How Tara builds confidence muscles

Don’t take it all so seriously. It doesn’t have to happen today. Never take things personal. Don’t assume. Ask questions. Take time to do nothing.

GirlHabits: What can’t you live without? What do you wish there was less of in the world?

TJ: I can’t live without contact with Nature. I can feel myself filling up with energy in its presence. I wish there was less judgement in the world, and more curiosity.

GH: What is the most valuable advice you got when striking out on your own?

TJ: “You can do it. I believe in you.”

GH: What do you wish young entrepreneurs were doing more of today?

TJ: Exploring creativity with purpose.

GH: If you had to let go of something to make your own path, what would you say that was?

TJ: Personal relationships and behaviours that weren’t and aren’t serving me.

GH: Describe your priorities in four words or less.

TJ: Happiness in Considerate Inventiveness.

GH: What’s the weirdest thing that has made you cry?

TJ: When Beethoven was taken away to the pound in the movie Beethoven. In my mind, I’ve never cried so hard.

GH: What do you consider the most important event in your life so far?

TJ: My then-boyfriend-now-husband and I independently trekked through the Annapurna range of the Himalayan mountains in 2007. We walked for 2.5 weeks through amazing scenery and fascinating villages and passed over one of the highest mountain summits in the world. It was hard in so many ways. But every day, I felt like a happy maniac, an amazing and powerful wizard, and I was just so proud of my capabilities. After that, I knew “for sure” I could do anything. It was official that I ruled.

GH: If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?

TJ: Oh my god. I’m so excited to answer this question. I’m totally geeking out. I’ve always thought, when it came down to it, I’d want to read people’s minds. But I feel like it’s a double-edged sword and I’m reconsidering…I’d like to be able to teleport. Does that count as a super power?

GH: What’s your favorite food memory?

TJ: Eating home-picked raspberries with my grandparents on their porch swing.

GH: If you could live anywhere in the world for six months, where would you live and why?

TJ: I’d return to India, with my husband, and just our backpacks. Why? Because there is so much more for us to discover there.

GH: How do you deal with frustrations?

TJ: Write it out, baby! Tell the page why you’re so f’ing mad.

GH: What is your next big challenge?

TJ: Since I started my business I’ve been using the pricing strategy of letting my clients determine the value of my work. I’m in the midst of writing my first book about it. Writing a book is a huge dream of mine, and thus a big challenge for me. I’m dead scared.
