Kelly Is A Fire Starter

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

I’m extremely grateful for Kelly, who reached out to me and made me aware of The Sports Bra Challenge. Because of her note, we were able to connect, promote a cause we both believe in and share our passion with the world. Additionally, she gave me momentum to reach out to Jocelyn, Jenny, and Kelly and offer my help to further their cause. I was also able to loop Tom in on what we were doing, and he was able to assist us by writing a story on The Sports Bra Challenge. So Thank You Kelly, for inciting the fire in my belly. I wish you the best of luck in your Sprint Triathlon. As my brother likes to say, Crush it and Be Present.

In honor of the S.E.A.K’s The Sports Bra Challenge which takes place this Thursday, May 17th, at Union Square Park, we will be donating $5.00 of every mi-bra sale to the S.E.A.K foundation, and running interviews with the founders (links to interviews below). Please enter the coupon code “SBC” at checkout, so we can keep track of the sales attributed to this amazing cause.

The Sports Bra Challenge is a day-long charity fitness centered around women working out in a series of group fitness classes in their sports bras. Get in on this epic celebration of our bodies and support S.E.A.K. Foundation and City of Hope’s Positive Image Center, which helps cancer patients regain and retain confidence in how they look while undergoing treatment. If you’re not going to be near the NYC area: Wear a sports bra while you cook dinner, walk the dog, run outside, take a yoga class, or while hiking with your friends.

GirlHabits: What can’t you live without?

Kelly Janowski: Chocolate! I started running two years ago because my love of food was interfering with my ability to fit into my clothes. I got myself to a healthy weight and use exercise to reduce stress, get stronger and earn a calorie deficit that I can fill with delicious food.

Iowa Girl Eats Amazingly

Thursday, March 1st, 2012

This week we spoke to Kristin of Iowa Girl Eats. She loves to cook, exercise, and travel, so she’s my type of gal :o). Her site is full of scrumptious recipes and absolutely beautiful pictures that explain how to go from A to Z and make Peanut Butter Cup Cookies or Green Monster Spinach Smoothies (something that I will try next week!)

I hope you’re inspired by Kristin to do some home cooking, as she makes it look glorious, easy, and deliciously YUMMY.

GirlHabits: Do you think you’ll ever stop traveling?

Kristin: Never! There are far more places in the world to see and discover than I have time for. I’ll never stop exploring!

GH: What can’t you live without? What do you wish there was less of in the world?

nutritionist and blogger Mel shares great wisdom

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

Editor’s note:  Mel Thomassian, Blogger and Dietitian, was interviewed for this post.

I was lucky enough to connect with Mel through her great blog (I even did a guest post for it). Mel’s blog is succinct and extremely helpful. You can also find Mel’s writing at Diet Blog, Health Central Network, My Heart Central, Cholesterol Network, My Diabetes Central, and Zen Family Habits.

She was great enough to let me ask her a few questions. Read below and get inspired to get healthy!

GirlHabits: Is exercise or healthy eating more important?

Mel: Both are important in my book. To feel at your best, you can’t do one without the other — the healthier you eat, the more you’ll have the strength and energy to work out, and the more you work out, the healthier you’ll want to eat.
